Blue Whales

I’m noticing a trend. Each animal that I blog about that is on the verge to extinction has something so superior about it. The African elephant is the largest land animal, the cheetah is the fastest land animal, and the blue whale is the largest known animal to have ever existed. This worries me, and I think it should worry you as well. You may have thought that dinosaurs were the largest animal to roam the earth, but the blue whale is approximately 10 meters longer and over 100 tons heavier. Their tongue can be the weight of an elephant and their hearts as much as an automobile. These big hearted creatures tend to be shy and mostly innocent, mainly feeding on krill. Among these extreme features, the blue whale is also one of the loudest and longest living animals on the planet. Evolution of this animal is remarkable because of the fact that it is has so many of these features that are like no other animal in the world. The significance of blue whales is greater than one would think solely because of this fact.

This creature has so many qualities that are like no other which is why it is so sad to see them endangered. Over a 60 year span, over 360,000 were slaughtered in the 1900’s, and although it is now illegal to go “whaling”, this animal is still reaping the effects of selfish people.  I’m noticing another trend. A lot of endangered species are in the position they are because of human impact. We are such a powerful species and some people don’t realize the major effects that we cause. The blue whale should be praised because of its great features it has, showing the great evolutionary advances the animal kingdom has come to know.
